Malachite’s beautiful green color always lifts my spirit. Malachite in all its forms is known as a stone of transformation and the color green is associated with healing, growth and financial abundance. It is associated with the heart chakra and fire element.
The owl is one of my animal totems and I wanted to share some of her gifts with you. Ancient, wise one, the owl spirit sees through the veils of illusion. She whispers in your ear that which you need to know. Wisdom, intuition and magic are afoot when the owl appears to you.
”An attitude of gratitude puts things into perspective, which frankly can at times be a challenge. The day to day concerns of life tend to side track our focus on what is good, what is working and what we are grateful for.
There are several ways that we can practice gratitude in our lives.
It never ceases to amaze me how food or a scent can bring back a flood of memories. My childhood friend shared a post on Facebook with a photograph of Sfogliatelle pastry. I was instantly taken back to a cool autumn evening in Brooklyn. I was 5 years old, laying in bed after a Sunday dinner of macaroni with meatballs and sweet sausages and hot sausages listening to my parents and grandparents playing cards, sipping their coffee, and eating Italian pastries as they chain smoked cigarettes.
Water is an essential element to our physical and emotional well-being. Bathing soothes sore muscles, calms the nervous system, releases muscle tension, lifts your spirit, opens your pores, encourages digestion, softens your skin, promotes a restful sleep and eases symptoms of a cold or flu.
Epsom salt has magnesium in it and magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in our bodies.
In this fast passed world that we live in I think it is vitally important for our overall well being to connect with nature. Being in nature and working with crystals are two of my favorite ways to do that.
Rituals are ways to mark transitions in our lives and through the seasons. They are ways to honor the cycles in life.
Crystals encompass all of the elements, earth, water, air and fire. By having crystals in my home and working with them I can tap into nature no matter what season it is. Sweet!
To paraphrase Shakespeare’s “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” , A Boji Stone by any other name would be a Boji Stone.
Let’s get out of the way the fact that I am completely perplexed when something from Mother Nature is trademarked. Boji Stones are the trademarked and the most well known name for these stones that are found in Kansas. They are also known as Kansas Pop Rocks, Pop Rocks, Moqui Marble (though I think Moqui Stones actually differ slightly), or Shaman Stones. The trademarked stones marketed and sold as Boji Stones are sold with their own, “birth certificate” and cost considerably more. Now that , that is out of the way, I will refer to these stones in a general way as Pop Rocks.
There are limitless ways to incorporate crystals into your life. As a Taurus the visuals, textures and energies in my surroundings are important to me, so I think I have found just about every way to incorporate these gifts from mother nature into my daily living that enhance my over all well being.
Smudging is an ancient spiritual practice used for purifying and cleansing energies from a person, place or thing that is most often associated with the Native Americans. A combination of herbs, flowers and different types of sage are bundled together to form a smudge stick that is burned. The most common form of smudge is white sage.
